a poem to covid
twenty tabs open
asking for something
or nothing
can't shut them
in case I forget
could mark my time during COVID
with the carts
of online shopping
things needed
desired
unnecessary
some fulfilled
some forgotten
events booked
forgotten
events attended
while eating dinner
while wearing ugg boots
while multi-tasking
a thousand unread emails
with
important (or not)
details unrevealed
birthdays
come
go
anniversaries
come
go
the confines of my room
a yoga mat
two laptops (work and other)
screens (ditto)
piles of books (bought, borrowed, old, unread, read)
weights
plants
hand cream
headphones
fifteen hours
or more
rotating from station
to station
like it's an obstacle course
or gym circuit
four of us
a dog
a man
a man child
me
dance
around each other
avoiding tension
this too
will end
