an ode to my new fridge
you are cold
you are freezing
you are empty
you are full
you have things I never need
(and things transferred to you that you did not want)
you don't have what I want
your light shines bright
you make noise if I forget you
you're shiny
you're uncluttered
you lack the magnets
(that are still in the shoebox)
you lack the other things we stacked one on the other until that's all there was
(the paintings
the drawings
the photos
the bills
the notices)
you lack the dents
you're clean
you're undented
you're unbroken
you're fresh
you have space for all things
you have welcoming doors
you have welcoming drawers
you are full of promise
I will keep you clean
I will keep you uncluttered
I will only fill you with things I'll use
(not that jar of sauce from 1985)
I will shut you gently
I will treat you gently
Thanks for signing up for my tinyletter.
