Five things
Things that caught my eye and ear this week. A short cupfilling post for everyone
Hello dear Musers
Five things that caught my eye and ear this week.
Things growing in odd places
When you want a yurt, but don’t have the animal skin…
Flowers are the best
When Susannah, who’d come to one of my retreats last year, arrived at my retreat yesterday, she wound down her window and called me over. ‘I’ve got something for you,’ she said and held out this beautiful bunch of flowers.
My love language
If you’ve read Five Love Languages, you’ll know what I mean when I say my love language is words. I love giving them, and love getting them. This week I received a package in the mail from the Chateau Orquevaux with my writing sample that I had forgotten to pick up. On it and inside it are people’s beautiful words buoying me on. Gosh I miss my Orquevaux family.
House guest
Our houseguest will have left by the time I return home on Sunday and I’m going to miss his presence. J2 (so as not to be confused with my son J) is a mate of my sons J and P. He moved in while I was travelling as he was between houses, but he’s found a place to live. It’s been great having him in our house with his Nick Cave records, fresh flowers in a vase and boreks on Wednesdays.
On the bright side, J is coming home next week after his 6 week holiday overseas.
What’s caught your eye this week?
Not all bright and cheery things this week, but I felt this last one needed a mention.
Until next time
X M
PS: I’ve got something very exciting coming that is sure to fill your creative cup. Keep your eyes out for it!
In case you missed it
Need time for your creativity?
Writing Momentum
Wednesday Writing Momentum is that place for you to lock in a solid 40 minutes of writing with a prompt if you need it and a poem. It’s a great way to gain and maintain your creative momentum. It’s online and a nice place to be at 7 am (Melb time - sorry Perth folks). PJs are welcome.
Retreats
I’m half way through running my August retreat at our new venue in Kinglake and it is am-a-zing. Waking to birdsong, so many beautiful spaces to think, read and write, private cottages and ensuites, catering that is top notch… I am so heartful being here providing time and space for writers. One word that has been said a lot here by the women is permission. This retreat is giving them permission to do the thing that gives them the most joy.
This is why I do what I do.
If you’re keen for some guilt-free, permission-giving time and space for your writing, there are still rooms available for October 20-24 (Monday to Friday) and November 20-23 (Thursday to Sunday).
